This Learner Guide has been developed as the main source document for Module 1 of the Occupational Certificate: Trade Unionist qualification: History and Theories of Trade Unionism. The Learner Guide is intended to support the learner throughout the learning programme.
It provides the learner with a list of the Knowledge titles (KT’s) that should be covered and the Internal Assessment Descriptors (IAC’s) that should guide the learner assessment, together with the credit value and the associated notional hours of the module.
A learning programme has been developed to suggest how the content can be delivered and sequenced. The learning programme might be adapted as the facilitator develops their own workshop plans.
The Learner Guide contains all the information that will be covered in this module, together with the Activities you will engage in during class sessions. The Activities are intended to consolidate your learning, encourage you to share ideas with other participants and get you to think critically. Most of the Activities will count towards your Formative Assessment for this module.
Readings are either contained in this Learner Guide or will be handed out to you separately.
