National Short Courses – Occupational Health & Safety

February 27 - March 1

  • This course aims to introduce participants to occupational health and safety, focusing on how it impacts the core objectives of Trade Unions. It will develop skills in recognizing and assessing hazards and risks, and addressing them effectively in their trade union structures.

The course will also address the growing issue of precarious employment in increasingly opaque supply chains, highlighting the need for interpretation of key concepts in South Africa’s occupational health and safety regulations.

Aims

  • Enhance the working and living conditions of their members who rely on their work for survival, health, and well-being.
  • Learn to identify and evaluate workplace health hazards and risks, and find effective solutions within trade unions.
  • Learn key concepts of OHS, and the laws which govern it in South Africa

Participants

Health& Safety reps, Shopstewards, Organisers and Union officials.
